Cross Country
Thu 23 Feb 2017This afternoon we were, quite literally, blown away by the amazing sporting achievements, efforts and general good sportsmanship on display on the school field by all the children in the school as they competed for their team colours in our Inter House Cross Country Competition. Whilst Storm Doris did her very best, nothing was able to dampen the spirits of the children and in true Pirbright style they showed us all what fantastic team players they really are and not a single person gave up no matter how tough they found it. Great job guys....... -
Sportshall Athletics
Wed 08 Feb 2017Miss Strange, Mrs Gurzynski and Mrs Dow accompanied a fantastic team of Y6 children to the Sportshall Athletics event at Guildford’s Spectrum on Monday morning. As it was the first time we had been to the event, we were all a little unsure of the procedures but they children had prepared well at school and were ready for all of their individual pursuits. The children were an absolute pleasure to take with us and aside from impeccable behaviour and sportspersonship, they gave the other schools a good run for their money – particularly in the “track” events. The children came 7th out of 11 schools which was absolutely brilliant considering the quality of sports on display from all of the teams – we’ve already got our sights on next year!

Year 6 Visit to Wonderful Woking
Wed 08 Feb 2017Y6 Visit Wonderful Woking
Year 6 headed off bright and early on the train to Woking on Tuesday where they learned about the coming of the railway and how the town expanded in Victorian England. First stop was Europe’s first purpose built mosque, the world famous Shah Jahan Mosque in Maybury. The resident Imam gave us a wonderful tour jam-packed with information and the chance to ask questions. It was inspiring to hear about all of the various religions which came together to influence the creation of such a beautiful building. From there, we walked back into Woking and headed to The Lightbox where we explored some maps and photographs to put together the story of Woking’s birth. Linked to Victorian traditions, the children had the opportunity to make a locket using shrink plastic and a memento of their day. A trip on the train home and a walk back through Brookwood’s cemetery returned us to school.

Lunchtime Superstars
Wed 08 Feb 2017Lunchtime Superstars
We are so fortunate at Pirbright to have the most delightful of children and the effort they go to in helping out around the school is wonderful. There are a small band of girls who have consistently helped out in the lunch hall for nearly half of the school year now so we thought they deserved a treat! Earlier in the week, they received invitations to a special lunch at the “top table” in the dinner hall where they were waited on by Mrs Cannon and Mrs Dow. It was certainly a lunchtime to remember!

3ND Class Assembly
Thu 02 Feb 2017Wow! What an Awfully brilliant assembly the children in 3AD performed today about Awful Egyptians. It was so lovely to see the children in their costumes, hear their fantastic lines and see all their actions and songs. The school learned lots about the life and times of Ancient Egyptians and enjoyed having a few giggles along the way. We would also like to give a special thanks to the parents who came to support the children and an extra special thanks to our adult participants too! All the children did a fantastic job today and we are so very proud of each and every one. Well done guys!
