During the first term in Year 1 our focus is the smooth transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. Continuous provision and child led, explorative learning continues on from Reception, with our skills based, challenging learning areas which are both indoors and outdoors. We have a cross curricular, topic based approach to learning which feeds into many areas of the curriculum; giving the learning purpose and meaning. As well as independent learning, children work with a variety of adults in focused learning time, phonics sessions and reading sessions. As the year progresses, the children work towards more formal, whole class learning with less 'COOL Time' (Choosing Our Own Learning).
