During the first term in Year 1, our focus is the smooth transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. Continuous provision and child-led, explorative learning continues on from Reception, with our skills-based, challenging learning areas which are both indoors and outdoors. We have a cross-curricular, topic-based approach to learning which feeds into many areas of the curriculum, giving the learning purpose and meaning. As well as independent learning, children work with a variety of adults in focused learning time, phonics sessions and reading sessions following The Little Wandle Letters & Sounds Revised Phonics programme.
