Enrichment

At Pirbright Village Primary School, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom. Our enrichment offer provides children with opportunities to discover new interests, develop talents, build confidence and resilience, experience success, broaden their horizons and develop a strong sense of belonging to our school and wider community. We want every child to leave Pirbright with a rich bank of experiences, memories and skills that complement their academic learning and help them to understand themselves, others and the wider world. Our enrichment provision is therefore not an additional extra for a small number of children. It is an entitlement for every pupil.

Through a combination of curriculum-linked experiences, educational visits, visitors, leadership opportunities, clubs, sporting activities, creative experiences, community involvement and wider opportunities, we aim to ensure that every child has opportunities to:

  • discover and develop interests and talents;
  • develop confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork;
  • experience success and challenge;
  • develop communication, oracy and social skills;
  • broaden their cultural capital and understanding of the wider world;
  • develop aspirations for their future;
  • contribute positively to their school and local community;
  • develop healthy habits and positive wellbeing;
  • experience opportunities that they may not otherwise have access to;
  • develop a strong sense of pride and belonging.

Our enrichment strategy supports our school values of Respect, Nurture, Pride, Trust and Resilience and complements our curriculum, personal development and whole-school wellbeing strategies.
