PE

It is a scientifically proven fact that there is a clear link between the health and wellbeing of students and their educational outcomes. This is at the forefront of our PE teaching and the children’s learning.

Pupils at Pirbright have an enriched physical exercise program during curriculum time which include activities designed to challenge and inspire them. As well as these curriculum activities, our school provides every child with the opportunity to take part in enrichment clubs after school, which again cover a wide range of sports. Research has shown that participation in extra-curricular activities has a positive effect on attainment and every child is offered the opportunity to join a sports club.

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding is being used to improve the quality and breadth of PE at Pirbright. More information on how this funding is used can be found in our PE Premium section (in the ‘All About Us’ menu).

At Pirbright Primary School, our aim is to provide children with a lifelong love of experiences in sports. We believe that participation in competitions with peers from other schools, and the necessary dedication and hard work in preparation for them, will help children to persist when faced with challenges in all areas of the curriculum.
