Computing

Here at Pirbright our aim is to prepare the children to become ‘Digital Citizens’ who are keen, confident and considerate in their use of technology. We provide a broad and progressive computing curriculum supported by a wide range of school and online resources. Technology is used to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the curriculum. We encourage the effective development of computing skills and, in particular, computational thinking (or systematic problem-solving) which equips pupils with the skills and knowledge to be able to use technology with confidence, and apply their skills across the curriculum and to the wider world outside school.

We are proud to be an ICT Mark Accredited School.

In Early Years Foundation Stage the children are introduced to a variety of hands-on resources as part of their imaginative play and independent learning. They have their own set of iPads to explore, with age-appropriate apps and online resources. The children have access to a range of computer based resources and regularly access the ICT suite and use both school-based and internet-based software.

As the children move into Key Stage 1 and through KS2, the requirements of Computing Curriculum are achieved through units of work and cross-curricular activities which provide a strong context for their learning.
